I have secured my third recommendation (squee!!), and my application has been sent electronically. All that needs to happen now is my GRE scores need to arrive in the mail (next day or two) so that I can photocopy them and include them in the checklist packet; I need to finish my manuscript and give it a final revision and proof; and I need to write a Statement of Intent. Then I need to mail the whole lot off postmarked before or on Jan. 15, check to make sure all my transcripts arrived at the university as requested, check that the recommendations also made it there, and the rest is up to the powers that be.

I also bought plane tickets for me and Mom tonight! We are set to spend three weeks in England and a week and a half in Paris!! More squee!! I'm so looking forward to this trip.

Between house, grad school, and plane tickets, I'm probably not going to be able to sleep for a long time tonight.

Exactly what I was going to say -- trip envy!!!!

Feel free not to answer if you prefer not to, but I'm curious -- does your job have stupendous vacation benefits? Or have you made a change I'm not aware of? (Again, please don't answer if you'd rather not -- I know some people aren't comfortable with discussing such things.)

Good luck on grad school app!

I don't mind at all. :) My job does have generous vacation benefits, but not that generous... I'm planning on leaving at the end of May. I'll put in my notice probably in mid-March so that there is time enough to train another editor. I'm still there for now, though!

It's the last one for a few years, I think, so I'm happy that it's still on!

If you would like me to bring back some things for you and Bob and Reese, just let me know. :)

Oh, that would be awesome! Too bad pastries can't really come back with you ;) I would love, love, love food stuff. Herbes de Provence, truffle oil, confits, chocolate, tea, wine, anything really. I can't think of anything from England except a Paddington Bear. I've been so stuck on Paris lately I don't remember what England has to offer!

When are you going? If you have time you should pick up "Clotilde's Edible Adventures in Paris". She writes the Chocolate & Zucchini blog (and cookbooks).

Ach! Of course not! England and Paris, and more than a week in each. I'm jealous!
